On Tuesday morning Damon, Bella and I represented PSPC at a welcoming function for the GC2018 School Connect Program. This program is designed to help keep our school community informed and enthusiastic about the upcoming Commonwealth Games and to give us the opportunity to be involved in key GC2018 initiatives.
One of these initiatives is the ‘Adopt a Commonwealth Country Program.’ As a school we have adopted the country of Saint Helena, which is a tropical island in the South Atlantic Ocean, 4000 km east of Rio de Janeiro. We will take the time over the next few years to learn about Saint Helena’s customs, language and culture. At the function we were presented with certificate of appreciation, a map and the national flag of Saint Helena, which we will display with pride. This is an exciting opportunity for the students at PSPC.
