This week we have been celebrating NAIDOC week.
Students from Prep to Year 6 have been learning about the worlds oldest culture and how indigenous art is used as a communication tool.
We have been designing and painting our own concept of
indigenous dot painting on a lava rock this week. The designs include
traditional symbols, circles and lines used by the world’s oldest civilisation
to tell their mobs stories. We watched some dreaming stories and learnt about
what the symbols in rock and cave paintings mean.
We will create a mandala on the
oval with the rocks telling a story of movement and community. They will be sent
home Friday afternoon as a memento of our NAIDOC week celebrations.
