Sun protection strategy

Year-round sun protection is important for children in Queensland, as the UV Index is typically at damaging levels even during winter.

Children’s skin is very susceptible to UVR damage and sustaining five or more severe sunburns in this critical period more than double melanoma risk.

Reducing sun exposure in childhood and adolescence is the most effective way of reducing the risk of developing skin cancer later in life. PSPC has implemented a comprehensive sun protection approach which includes our school uniform and various play areas beneath shade.
