Same day notification of Unexplained Absences SMS
The safety and wellbeing of students are the highest priorities for us. Parents need to know if their child hasn't turned up for school, and schools need to know when and why a child is absent.
State schools are required to notify parents on the same day that any student is absent from school without explanation.
Every morning we send an SMS to families informing them if their child has an unexplained absence. If you have forgotten to call the absence line, please reply to the absence SMS.
Attendance Recognition
At PSPC, we have a 95% attendance target, this equates to students having 10 days absent from school per year.
Students who achieve 95% or greater attendance and zero suspensions are included in our "Celebration of Greatness" reward program.
School absenteeism and student attendance
School absenteeism and student attendance is a complex issue which includes a range of student behaviours including school refusal and truancy.
Every day counts is a state wide initiative that aims to assist in improving student attendance at school through a shared commitment by students, parents, caregivers, schools and the community.
To do this, Every day counts promotes four key messages:
all children should be enrolled at school and attend on every school day
schools should monitor, communicate and implement strategies to improve regular school attendance
truanting can place a student in unsafe situations and impact on their future employability and life choices
attendance at school is the responsibility of everyone in the community.
